So I have to say this, about pretty girls

This is mainly to the guys, but have you ever met a pretty girl who you thought acted like an asshole for no reason? Like, you got a sense that she acted that way on a daily basis. I want to put out there the likely reason she acts this way: it’s a defense mechanism.

Seriously. Consider what her typical day must be like, which surely must involve being smoking hot… but consider the offshoot of being smoking hot. Guys hit on her all the time. All the time. It’s kind of sad, because it’s not her fault for being pretty. And these guys who are coming up to her? She’s not remotely interested in the vast majority of them. Imagine having to deal with that daily. You have this guy coming up and talking to you not because he is interested in the content of your character, but by the color of your skin. Oops, sorry. I forgot to get out of my MLK mode. But seriously, he’s not interested in the content of your character; he’s only interested in boning you.

So now you have to get rid of this guy. If you talk to this guy, he’ll only be further encouraged and think you like him. Of course, if you give this guy the cold shoulder, you’ll come off as an asshole. Needless to say, a lot of pretty girls choose to just take the second route and get it over with.

Anyway, as a disclaimer, I’m not endorsing anything I just said. I’m just putting out a thought. But I will say that if you’re a pretty girl, please, please, please, PLEASEEEEEE try to differentiate between a guy who’s hitting on you and a guy who’s just being nice. Because if you’re an asshole to a guy who’s hitting on you, and you don’t like this guy, you’re probably justified. But if you’re an asshole to a guy who’s talking to you in a friendly conversation — a guy who probably engages a lot of different people in friendly conversation — well, then, you’re just being an asshole. Right? Because the reason you’re giving someone the cold shoulder is specifically because this person is hitting on you (maybe this person also smells bad, but you get the point). So if the person isn’t hitting on you, then that’s not really a reason. You just made up a reason.

So now, pretty girls, you’ve got to find out who’s hitting on you and who’s just being nice. Or you could just be mean to everyone. It is less work after all, eh?
